TEXARKANA, Ark. — Two local medical marijuana dispensaries together have sold almost 800 pounds of medical marijuana in a little more than a year since they opened.
Since January 2020, Red River Remedy has sold 581.22 pounds of medical marijuana and Bloom Medicinals has sold 215.33 pounds, according to statistics published Tuesday by the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Commission.
A dispensary called The Releaf Center in Bentonville has sold the most medical marijuana to date in the state, 3,993.25 pounds since August 2019. Spring River Dispensary in Hardy has sold the least, 38.46 pounds, but it has only been open since Jan. 7.
Since the first dispensary opened in mid-2019, Arkansans have spent $242 million to obtain 36,656 pounds of medical marijuana, according to the Commission.
The Arkansas Department of Health reports 66,638 active patient cards needed to buy medical marijuana. Overall, patients in Arkansas are spending approximately $665,000 a day on medical marijuana purchases.
There are 32 dispensaries in operation throughout Arkansas, with six others licensed and working toward opening for business.
