Minnesota Medical Marijuana Patient Registration
How to find a medical marijuana doctor in Minnesota
Any MN licensed Doctor Of Medicine or APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) for the conditions below can certify the patient's qualifying condition (there are nine qualifying conditions) and then the patient must register with the state. Once approved, the patient makes an appointment with one of the manufacturers/dispensaries and meets with a pharmacist who will determine the best medical cannabis product and dosing for the patient.
Dr’s can be found here: http://mn.gov/boards/medical-practice/public/find-practitioner/
Nurse’s can be found here: http://mn.gov/boards/nursing/#/list/appId//filterType//filterValue//page/1/sort//order/
However, for nurse’s, they must be listed as APRN
Qualifying Conditions
For a patient to receive medical cannabis, the law requires that a licensed health care practitioner certify that the patient has one or more of the qualifying conditions. A health care practitioner is defined as a Minnesota-licensed doctor of medicine, a Minnesota-licensed physician assistant acting within the scope of authorized practice, or a Minnesota-licensed advanced practice registered nurse who has primary responsibility for care and treatment of the patient’s qualifying medical condition.
Licensed physicians and physician assistants in Minnesota can be located on the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice website. Advanced practice registered nurses licensed in Minnesota can be located on the Minnesota Board of Nursing website (note they must be licensed as an APRN to be able to certify patients for the medical cannabis program).
