On May 29, 2014, Minnesota legalized medical marijuana when the SF 2470 was approved by the Senate and the House, followed by being signed into law by Governor Mark Dayton, with recreational weed not near the radar yet. The allowable forms of medical cannabis under SF 2470 are THC & CBD oils, pills, creams, vaporizers and patches which are provided by open MN dispensaries. Buds, or flower to smoke and edibles in Minnesota are not legal yet. Qualified marijuana patients will need to go through the state registration process after seeing a doctor.
