The following items were taken from the Niles Police Department reports. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.
Thomas Nowakowski, 25, of the 1400 block of Henry Street, Des Plaines, and Kyra Santiago, 24, of the first block of Timber Terrace, Cary, were each charged with theft on Sept. 22. According to police, the pair were accused of stealing purses on Aug. 26 at a retailer in the 8500 block of West Golf Road. Police said they were also charged with a similar crime in Mount Prospect. Nowakowski and Santiago were each scheduled to appear in court Sept. 22.
Patricia Korbel, 58, of the 9500 block of Terrace Place, unincorporated Maine Township, was charged with retail theft on Sept. 22 after police said she stole three greeting cards from a retailer in the 8500 block of West Golf Road. Korbel is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 10.
Angela Wojcik, 34, of the 500 block of Columbia Avenue, Des Plaines, was charged with criminal damage to a vehicle, criminal trespass to property and possession of marijuana on Sept. 16..
Charles L. Shaw, 28, of the 500 block of Cherry Lane, Glenview, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a revoked license following a traffic stop in the 6800 block of Milwaukee Avenue on Sept. 17. Shaw was scheduled to appear in court Oct. 2.
Mikhail Pasetes, 31, of the 9300 block of Home Court, Des Plaines, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license, obstruction and driving with expired registration on Sept. 20. Police said Pasetes gave a false name during a traffic stop and a bottle containing a controlled substance was found inside his car. Pasetes is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 10.
