Halifax Regional Police say officers conducting a search during a child pornography investigation found an illegal cannabis dispensary.
The National Child Exploitation Coordination Center told local police that a man had been sharing sexually explicit images of child online.
That led to the search of a Dartmouth home last Wednesday by the Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit, where electronics were seized for forensic analysis.
Then they called in the Drug Unit, which seized cannabis plants, dried and prepackaged cannabis, cannabis edibles, hashish, LSD, psilocybin, around 200 unidentified pills and about $1,300 in cash.
Four men were arrested at the residence.
A 24-year-old is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date to face three counts each of possession of child pornography and distribution of child pornography.
He and the three other men — aged 39, 31 and 22 — are also facing charges of possession of cannabis for distribution, possession of cannabis for production, possession of cannabis for sale and possession of property obtained by crime.
Anyone with information on child pornography is asked to call police at 902-490-5020 or submit a tip through Cybertip, Canada’s National Tip Line for reporting online sexual exploitation of children.
