MONTEVIDEO, Minn. — A 29-year-old man from Montevideo is facing seven felony charges, including dissemination of child pornography, after he allegedly sent photos of a 3-year-old girl to an undercover FBI agent.
Matthew Eric Dolven has been charged with possession of pornographic works involving a minor, criminal sexual conduct in the second degree, and five counts of disseminating pornographic works involving minors.
Dolven appeared Friday in Chippewa County District Court for a bail hearing. Bail was set at $250,000 with no conditions or $200,000 with conditions. Dolven was still in custody at the Chippewa County Jail as of Friday afternoon.
According to the court documents, Dolven was communicating June 27 via an instant messaging app with a person who turned out to be an undercover FBI agent. Dolven told the agent he had touched the private parts of the child in the past and then sent several naked and closeup photos of the girl, the documents said.
The IP address of the computer, which was obtained by the FBI from the internet provider, came back to Dolven’s residence in Montevideo, court documents said.
FBI agents arrived in the west-central Minnesota town and a search warrant was executed in the early morning hours of June 28, documents said. Dolven was taken into custody when law enforcement arrived at the residence. Computers, phones, electronic storage devices and three marijuana pipes were seized during the search.
